Records include descriptions of runways, hangars, aircraft, resident airlines, emergency equipment, navigation aids, and obstructions, news clippings, data on airport operations (including creation and expansion), environmental impact reports, and maps and diagrams of facilites. In addition there is extensive correspondence between the bureau, the FAA and local airport and governmental officials, businessmen, and local residents.

Chapter 29, Laws of 1977, eliminated a statutory requirement for a separate Division of Aeronautics (see WIHV85-A790). Following a restructuring of the Department of Transportation (see WIHV85-A1884) in September 1978, the Division of Aeronautics became the Bureau of Aeronautics within the Division of Transportation Assistance (see WIHV85-A791).
